Philippians 4:4-7:
4 Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again:
Rejoice! 5 Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. 6 Do not be
anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with
thanksgiving, present your requests to God. 7 And the peace of God, which
transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ
Jesus.
Stress has become a way of life for many. We live in a
world of stressed out people. Some even claim that they need stress to function
properly. They claim that they need stress to push them to excellence. But
they are still stressed out.
Real peace comes when we keep our thoughts focused on
God. It comes when we fix our attention on God and not on our circumstances. To
do this we must pray, read God’s Word and consider his promises.
We are also told that God’s peace will guard our hearts and minds. The word translated "guard" is a military term. It means to
set up a garrison around. So, God protects our hearts and minds like a
military army protects its vital resources. Pray for the protection of
your thoughts!
A peaceful mind is a testimony to the world of God’s
power in our lives. It is the result of a rejoicing heart, a gentle spirit, an
un-anxious attitude and a prayerful lifestyle. It is the opposite of the stress
filled life that many choose to live.
We can live a stress free life by trusting Christ for
everything.
